What’s the longest you’ve been stuck in a traffic jam?

I’m currently stuck on the middle of the Severn bridge and have been for four hours so far. Looks set to be several more hours before anyone moves.

Anyone been stuck overnight somewhere ? I’m fucking hungry

About 5-6 hours on the M6, majority of which was standstill.

Remember 'The Beast from the East' Well I was stuck overnight on the way back home going across the New Forest. Got caught about 5pm with hundreds of others and eventually got out about 5.30 the following morning. Had a blanket in the boot which was a godsend.

Festivals don’t count, anyone who goes to a few will have a 12 hour nightmare story.

Best one was my sisters pal, a teacher from London whowent to Glastonbury. She was coming back on the Sunday night as she had to teach the next day so she got in the back of her mates car and promptly fell a kip as they were queuing to leave the campsite. When she woke up at 7am they hadn’t moved an inch and she had to teach a class in an hour In London

Not a traffic jam. But any train journey out to essex on the Anglia thing. Fucking bus replacement to get 25 miles or so. Takes hours

Took me over 2 hours to get from UP to Blackwall tunnel, think it was the 1-0 win against the bin dipppers mid week, Noble pen in stoppage time.

West Ham v Sunderland - FA Cup 5th Round Replay KO 7.45pm

Left work at 12.30 and was on the M4 in minutes as I worked near junction 16.
No idea whay there was so much traffic everywhere and no matter which route I took later it was utter fucking chaos.
Arrived at the ground at FUCKING HALF TIME !!!
Lost 2-3 and fucked off home again wondering why I ever bothered

Driven to Russia on a few occasions and it takes 14 hours to cross the border.

In the snow 12 odd years ago I just gave up and parked the truck on the A217.

A mere four and a half hours two years ago on the M25 after a round of golf. In my defence for placing such a meagre time on here compared with others it was around 33 degrees which was the hottest day of the year so far in 2018. Thankfully we had gone in my mates automatic, with far better air con than my beat up motor, and still ha drinks from the golf course. Others had to walk down the hard shoulder up a slip road to get refreshments!

Most annoying was two hours on M25 before a game at Upton Park. Always left early but didn't get into the ground until half time!

I love live music and bands, but that sort of story is a great reminder why I now only go and see bands in a building with a roof that I can be away from in minutes afterwards.

Had a similar experience with the British Grand Prix one year. Can't remember exactly how long it took to get out of the car park, but put the seat back and had a sleep for at least an hour during which nothing had moved an inch.

We were some of the lucky ones. Friends of mine spent the same amount of time on the ferry before it returned to Portsmouth with temporary campsites set up on Southsea. Some people spent the night in their cars on the other side of the island after being directed the opposite way after disembarking.

Eleven hours to drive the three miles from Fishbourne Ferry Terminal to the Isle of Wight Festival site in Newport.

After a fuckton of rain the night before (a few days after it had been announced that if there wasn't unprecedented summer rain we were looking at a nationwide drought) the site car parks were swamps and cars were being towed by tractors onto the site. We got onto the Island at 10.00. The entire island became gridlocked by midday.

Four hours in the ferry car park. Seven hours crawling to Seaclose Parl. Three blokes in a misfiring 1976 campervan with an almost flat battery. At least the other two could get into the beers.

It would have been a longer wait had anyone bothered to put a sign out saying the vans had a different route. Luckily another festival-goer stopped to tell us and we knocked an hour or two off the journey. Once we got in a steward directed us to the wrong car park. Eventually we found the emergency campervan field, essentially a swamp that we were towed into by a tractor.

Anyway the festival was alright and it dried out. Until Saturday night when it the heavens opened while watching the Charlatans. A vote was taken and we packed up in the sunshine on Sunday morning. It took ten minutes to get to the ferry port.

The following year I won VIP tickets and it didn't rain once.

Yes that's exactly the type of road we were on!
That brings back memories.

Thankfully the wheel fell of on a safe stretch. If t happened in the wrong spot we would have been over the edge no doubt.

I was sitting on the side of the bus with the dodgy wheel. I saw a tyre rolling down the road over taking us. I had enough time to say "what the f..." before the bus tilted and ground to a halt.

We were utterly stunned but the natives all seemed to take it in their stride. We just assumed replacement bus was required. I'll never forget the scene of the all the passengers holding up the bus while someone looked underneath to work out what was needed then pegging it to the nearest settlement to find this mysterious piece of metal. We were certainly reluctant to get back on but had no choice.

I spent 18months travelling. The 30 days I had in south-west China was absolutely the maddest and most memorable.

Drove from London to Newcastle in a new Car got the same day was told would take 4/5 hours got there 8 hours later after seeing Army digging other cars out of the roadside.Nightmare.

I thought my 13.5 hours on the A33 a few years back when we had that ridiculous snow was a good one, and then I read Trevs story.

I was going to tell you about the 8 hours that I got stuck in grid-locked London back in the early 90's but after reading Trev's post, he wins hands-down.

Not all in one go, but I do sometimes wonder how much of my life I've spent queuing from Park Royal to Hangar Lane on the North Circular?
